The extras we do for you

“Give Parents a Break”
This program offers free child care for parents experiencing stress due to deployment, on temporary duty or on a remote tour Caring for a child with special needs, an emergency situation, such as the illness of a family member, the family recently moving to the base or other Unique family circumstances or hardships.
Give parents a Break is held at the Gibson CDC. The Air Force Aid Society sponsors and funds “Give Parents A Break”, which provides up to 4 hours of free child care per month to families with special circumstances, who are referred by a helping agency. Usually on the first Friday of every month from 1830 to 2230 (except as noted). The care is provided at the Gibson Child Development Center (six weeks to six years) and the Youth Center (ages six through 12 years); Reservations are taken on a space available basis.

We ask you to register children in the program before reservations are accepted. Forms need for registration are:
- completed AF Form 1181:
- Air Force Youth Flight Patron Registration
- proof of current immunizations
- physical
- medical evaluations for children with special needs

If your family is experiencing any of the situations above or you think you might benefit from a few hours break from parenting responsibilities, talk with any of the following about a referral.

- The staff of the Child Development Centers, the Youth Center, the Family Child Care Office, the Family Support Center, or the - Family Advocacy Office
- Your Unit Commander or First Sergeant
- A chaplain, doctor or other medical professional

"Parent’s Night Out" runs concurrently on the same days and times as “Give Parent’s A Break”. Also at the Gibson Child Development Center, children six weeks through five are eligible. The cost is $15.00 for the session. At the Youth Center, children ages six (first grade) through 12 are eligible. The cost is $15 for the session. Program requirements are the same as for “Give Parents A Break.”
Give Parents a Break is held at the Gibson CDC and Youth Center. For more information about Give Parents a Break, contact the Gibson CDC at 846-1103 or the Youth Center at 853-5437, 853-kids.

“Tots Play Group” Maxwell CDC host a tots play group on Fridays from 1000-1200. Family Advocacy supervises this playground and provide information for families.
