Veterinary Clinic
For emergency services, contact an off base provider.
During regular office hours, the clinic staff can provide a list of general practitioners throughout the Albuquerque area.
Available Services and Products
Services at the Kirtland Veterinary Treatment Facility are focused towards preventative medicine (annual exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, microchips, and puppy/kitten/senior wellness screening). Spays, neuters and other minor surgeries are available as our schedule allows. Sick call appointments are also available. The VTF has blood work (in-house and outside services), digital radiography, and ultrasound capability.
Policies
Services are available to all active duty, retirees and reservists who hold a valid ID card. Reservists must be on active duty with official military orders for 30 days or more.
-- If you live on base, your pet(s) must be registered, vaccinated, spayed/neutered (unless a valid breeding permit is obtained) and microchipped (or proof of microchip shown). All pets in base housing must be registered (by appointment only) with the veterinary clinic. If you live in the city of Albuquerque, it requires that your pet(s) be vaccinated microchipped, spayed/neutered, and licensed.
All pets must be on a leash or in a carrier for all appointments.
No prescription items will be dispensed without an exam and/or approval from the veterinarian.
PCS’ing Information for Pets
Requirements for traveling or PCS’ing with pets varies from country to country, and often changes. A good website to start at is www.pettravel.com. The Veterinary Clinic can help answer your specific questions and make an appointment to obtain a Health certificate for your pet(s).
