Outdoor Recreation has many great services and rentals for anyone to explore Albuquerque and enjoy the outdoors. Get advice and learn from the experiences of the staff. Take advantage of equipment available for rent and an inventory that changes with the season. Reserve your seat on one of the many outdoor adventures trips regularly offered or get a group of friends and work with the staff to create a custom trip that everyone will enjoy and make great memories.

You’ll travel up a scenic highway through Jemez Pueblo to reach the Valle Caldera Preserve for a snowshoe hike. This stunningly beautiful area with a super volcano at its heart is home to elk and eagles and was the filming location for Longmire and The Lone Ranger. This hike is moderate at approximately three miles and 500 feet of elevation gain. Participants must be in good physical condition and tolerate high altitudes. After the hike and a picnic lunch, we’ll stop at the village of Jemez Springs to warm up at a local commercial hot spring for a one-hour soak. This outing is appropriate for children 14 and up when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. This is a great way to get a different perspective on the Land of Enchantment.
